Can Bayonet Fittings Be Replaced By Screw In

I’m in the process of installing Smart Bulbs. However, one of my chandeliers works of a bayonet fitting and the globe bit is to small for a standard bayonet bulb.  There are a few bayonet candle bulbs but they all seem to work on Wi-fi and can not be controllable via my Hue Hub. It’s the colour changing ones I’m after

So the question is can the bayonet be replaced by a screw fitting.  Is it a major job or for an electrician only a small job.  I’m asking now so I might possibly pick up a few bulbs on Amazon Prime Day.  I’m thinking in particular of the INNR bulbs as they seem to get some decent write ups

As always thanks for any advice

Easy and cheap job, just get an adapter Bayonet to screw.... Some on eBay HERE....
You can convert the other way around as well.

  • Just be aware that the above option will make the bulb sit higher/lower (depending on whether they're mounted upwards or downwards) within the shade/lamp ... i.e. it will make the bulb taller.

Note: are your current fittings normal bayonet (BC22) or small bayonet (BC15)?
  • Ikea did a twin pack of adapter really cheap

Got adapters on our ceiling lights. The extra height isn't an issue as they still sit well within the light shade.

It's unlikely that an existing light fitting can be converted from one to the other, so it would need to be replaced or one of the above adapters used.
If it's a hanging fitting where a wire drops from the ceiling to a simple light fitting with a collar to screw on a shade, then it should be a trivial job to replace that end-piece.
(As with all jobs, don't mess with electricity if you aren't 100% sure what you are doing.)

Thanks for the replies. Yes I did find one on the Amazon site and bought a few, they do work very well. The bulb sits a little higher up, but then that’s to be expected
