Has it been officially cancelled though?
  • My town is having a scarecrow trail. Participants are donating £5 to the local hospice, and local firms have donated prizes. A map showing the houses with scarecrows is being produced, so that local residents can see them. It's being held 26th October to 1st November, and I have my scarecrow planned!

    Kingfisher that's a great idea!
All sorts of halloweeny things that could make a trail. Jazzy if the children are that keen they could get involved is initiating something like this
They could make a halloween tree (bare branches of course) paint it black and fill small bags with sweets to hang from it.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

  • If you have jamjars, you could get them to design and cut out a face on a paper sleeve to go round it.  You can either light up using tealights or use some of the battery operated ones, and put them round the room during the evening.
    Paper chains?
its worth picking up some of the supermarket instore mags, as they will have recipes for halloween biscuits/cakes/mummies fingers etc etc.  that they could make during the afternoon.  One of the most effective ones I've seen was making ghosts out of meringue, with chocolate drop eyes.
Making up ghost stories to tell during the evening?

Sit back and relax with a glass of wine and a good book safe in the knowledge that you aren’t going to be pestered every 5minutes by kids you don’t know knocking on the door begging for treats.
Luckily we haven't been subjected to this for years, its quite nice actually when I don't believe in it.

Not sure the 10 and 12 year old will be up for a glass of wine and a book.
