Optimum Date Premium Bond buy Date.

Like the title. I'm thinking of buying a few. No point buying and not qualifing for the draws asap.
Can I ask which month and which day going forward from tomorrow represents least lost interest on the direct saver but qualification for the next draw.
Thanks

  • If you purchase your bonds on the last day of October they will be eligible for the December draw.

I think you mean If you successfully purchase ... :)

If instead you leave it 'til the last day of October, and NS&I have one of their many technical glitches/processing delays you could well find that transaction doesn't complete until 3 or 4 days later (has happened the last 2 times I bought premium bonds) -- no holding increase and no debit from your account. So then it will be the January draw for you!

If in doubt, give them some incompetence margin to work with.

    Very valid points.
  • Hi,
it should happen instantly if you are doing an internal transfer from your Direct Saver.
Try the min £25, first, lost interest will be negligible.
