Just to mention you won't get "points coming through". You will get a "Notice of Intended Prosecution" (a NIP) and a request to provide the driver's details (that's the main reason you - or anybody else - won't get points coming through just yet; they don't know who was driving and so don't know who to give the points to).
If you do get a NIP and you name yourself as driver there is a good chance you will be offered a course (provided the offence was not in Scotland and you have not done the same course for an offence that occurred in the three years prior to this incident).

So if you cleared the sensors (usually buried where the white line is) before it turned red, it is virtually certain there will be no action. However passing a light at amber is still an offence (albeit with a statutory defence) and if observed by police could result in a NIP & request to name the driver. If you are absolutely certain that the light turned red way way after even the cover on your towball crossed the stopline, then there won't be a problem.0

Why would you be afraid of braking down from 30 to 0 in the wet ? Its hardly heavy braking , I think you're not being entirely honest and only saw the rlc as you ran the light and panicked!
You hear alsorts of BS on these forums and they are all because of "safety"
Fyi amber is lit for 3 seconds plenty of time to stop in the wet not only that if you are an experienced driver you will be paying attention to the lights long before you reach them and knowing they have been green for a while you should be expecting them to change and should be getting ready for that1 -

There may or may not be "plenty of time". It depends entirely on how far you are from the line when the lights change.2. You don''t need to be an experienced driver. You will have been taught this before your test.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
