Apparently they don’t charge. But it would depend how they mark the transaction.

    When did you try that?

You're not that likely to get a direct answer to your query because you're asking for information of value (getting cash advances without paying) to be published on an open forum. For example, the Koto Card allowed exactly what you were after, but shortly after being plugged online, they removed the option to top up by card. Other merchants that allowed this have either ceased trading or removed the free top up option when they realised it attracts customers that cost them money, rather than make them money.

An option is to check out the information that Barclaycard provide on cash advance fees and try transacting with merchants that don't provide any of the listed services. https://help.barclaycard.co.uk/brochure/spending_transactions/cash-like-transactions

    Hope this helps :)

I don't know if Barclaycard will charge you for topping up Revolut, but I was charged earlier this year for topping up with my Capital One: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6142880/topping-up-revolut-with-a-credit-card-a-warning-to-others#latest

Therefore, I would tread carefully when doing this. Maybe start by topping up with £10 and see what happens as a test before topping up with a large amount.

Personally, I stopped using Revolut after this incident and because I think the customer service has gone downhill a lot. I switched over to the Barclaycard Rewards credit card which doesn't charge fees for overseas transactions and pays 0.25% cashback, then I use Starling Bank if I need to make ATM withdrawals (plus it's a useful back up).
