Can anyone inform me how much a bag of 70 litres of compost weighs in Kgs. I did not hink it is 1 for 1 but I could be incorrect I have a garden truck that takes a maximum weight of 80kg so does that mean it can only safely take on bag of compost that weighs 70 litres.

Alexa says a litre of water weighs 2,.2 lbs which is a kilo
So looks like you are right
70 litres weigh 7o kilomake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
It will depend on the compost, how wet it is etc, but I would expect 25 to 35 kg weight. Any bag of compost I have picked up has weighed considerably less than an adult.

You’re welcomeLife is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.1 -
It depends how wet the compost has got in the bag or whether it contains john innes which is negligible.
To answer your question an average bag is about 18kg so you could put 4 bags on your truck easily. 80kg is just over 12 stone the weight of an average person!0 -
Depends where and for how long it has sat in the pile at the retail outlet. Then it depends on the composition, which is variable. The loading limit of the truck would also probably include an element underestimation for safety in this litigious age.0

I'm no expert but manual handling regulations means it's likely to be 25kg or less. Most people couldn't even move a 70kg bag of something let alone lift it onto a truck.0

It depends on what's in the compost: 50l of manure weighs a lot more than 50l of compost! I get 50l compost bags regularly and can lift them. It's definitely not 1:1 in weight.0
