Halifax total mortgage protection plan

Options
I've just had a letter from Halifax regarding this policy. Apparently they should have sent annual reviews between 2014 to 2019 but they didn't. The wording says-
"If you think you would have cancelled your policy sooner if you'd have got the reviews at the right time, you may be eligible for a refund of some of the premiums you paid".

I rang them and was asked if I would have cancelled and said I might have done. Straight away the chap said ok, we'll register that you would have cancelled, send you some paperwork and the refund will be sent in a few weeks. Twice I said I MIGHT have cancelled, not that I definitely would, so I was a bit taken aback by the reply.

Has anyone had similar? I must admit I should have asked if that was all I had to do, how much the refund would be etc, but I was a bit surprised at the speed of the answer.

For further information, the policy finished last year and we have no mortgage outstanding.

Thanks for any info.

If they decide to treat this as "you would have cancelled" then they will also end the policy at the same time.   So, if you still need or want the cover you better tell them that.

As I said, the policy ended last year and we have no mortgage.
It just seems strange the conversation that the adviser had with me.
