Looking for recommendations - Back door

Options
We just bought a new house and the back door needs replacing desperately as it's made of wood, rotting away and has no security.

I contacted Safestyle and a rep came out, looked at the door and quoted £1,300 for a uPvC door and side panel. Thinking this was a ridiculous amount I scanned the forums here and followed the recommendation to get a quote from someone local instead... they wanted £1,600 (although I did select a colour whereas safestyle quoted white).

This seems absolutely ridiculous for a back door and side panel 🙄 we actually wanted to get nice composite doors but if companies want this much for uPvC then that will become a distant dream.

Does anyone have any recent experience with having a single door or single door and side panel fitted? If so who did you go with and how much did it cost?

Thanks.

The prices you've had quoted sound horrific.  Get on your local facebook groups and ask for recommendations of local firms, and go from there.

We had a new back door (uPVC) and that cost £500 plus fitting.  As it was done as part of a kitchen refurb I don't know the actual fitting cost but it wouldn't have been more that £100.

Yeah I thought he was quoting for the front and back door at first which is why I asked them out. I couldn't believe it was for a plain white uPvC door with a simple side panel.

I'll ask the Mrs to pop on Facebook and see if she can get any local recommendations. Thanks.

Go local and on recommend.  Or buy a very long bargepole - even then it won't be long enough for Safestyle.
