Hermes delivery what a joke

So I've had somewhat of a eventful week that has been wasted by a very inconsistent delivery company.
I was meant to recieve next day delivery but this is what happened
) so not only have they kept me in all week with false information but also the item didn't turn up on the Saturday.
So in a nutshell for anyone thinking of using hermes please don't they are pretty useless and make you stay in just incase they feel like delivering
Total jokers
I was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with this company and welcome your thoughts?

How many times have you had a successful delivery from Hermes and why did you not make your first post on here about that ?
All delivery companies have the occasional problems, people always highlight bad experiences.0 -
Thanks for response rantband
And also good point I not sure on the correct amount of delivery that have been successfull in the past but there have been some.
But I think your misunderstanding my point its the fact they informed me it was coming that day on everyday including the Saturday rather than just say there's
"there's a delay on the item we will email you when it's going to be delivered"
My point is the system they have in place clearly don't give clear information which actually wastes people time
there is no way to contact them other than speaking to an automated system when what was actually needed was for me to talk to a actual person that could of resolved this situation or at least not wasted my whole week.
But with the last message hopefully I'll have a response with this item on Monday. I'll be sure to let people know with regards to this post.

The thing is with Hermes is that both buyers and sellers are driven by price, look at the threads on here and on the vent boards where people say they won't use them. Yet if a seller shows prices for MyHermes at say £5 or courier X at £8 guess which one the buyer chooses for 99% of the time. Buyers will claim they won't use Hermes- until they realise that the alternative pushes up the price.
I have had this directly happen to me, selling a heavy awkward item, at the time Hermes were going to cost me less than £5 so I used that for my listing. Got contacted by a potential buyer saying he really wanted the item but refused to use MyHermes so would I guarantee to send it DPD or UPS instead. I had no problem with that so added those options into the listing at a cost of around £8-£9 , and told the buyer to choose which they wanted to use when they paid the appropriate cost on the invoice.
Buyer suddenly got irritated, he had wanted the 'better' courier but seemed surprised I was going to charge them more- told me he would only buy if I set the courier costs at the same. Luckily it sold to someone else before it got into too much of an argument and other buyer paid the cheaper Hermes option.

Thanks for response soolin
And good point it is a lot of the time about saving the pennies but I've got to say that after this experience I actually think.
I would rather pay that £8-9 for a service that could perhaps be more informative has to where and when the item would actually but sadly enough this just isn't a option with most sellers. I did however pay the highest option with hermes which was next day delivery.
And also can I stress that this ain't the delivery drivers fault at all they are very unaware of these situations and often are the ones to take it in the neck because they are on the front line.
Cheers and thanks for the outlook0 -

I have everything sent to a Click and Collect site such as Sainsbury's or Argos and just await the message telling me that it has arrived.
I then collect it at a time that suits me rather than waste endless hours waiting for a courier who doesn't turn up.1 -

Makes sense to me Neil and Mark I might give that a try in the future
Cheers for response0 -
Its pretty obvious there is an issue with your courier/route
The 'on its way message' will be an allocation scan to the courier.
Then when it doesnt meet spec you get the delayed message
The scan options/messages for courier software are limited in their scope as they are designed for when everything goes to spec.
Where I live we have a great Hermes driver but he does it as a 'job' as in he has a large van, less of a side line as many Hermes couriers will be.0 -
Our local Hermes people are lovely. If we're out they'll hide the parcel for us at by a plant pot or something or put it round the back if giant sized...Lurking in a galaxy far far away...0
