Rewards Debit Card?

Now that it seems that reward credit cards are on the way out are there any bank accounts that have reward debit cards?

Halifax, if you spend more than £500 a month on their debit card. It's a fixed £5/month then

TSB pay you £5/month for a maximum of 6 months if you make at least 30 debit card purchases in a month.

When applying for TSB account, you might be able to bag a £50 cashback via Quidco, too. It seems you have sadly missed the £100 Halifax switch offer which recently ended. Worth keeping an eye on whether it repeats. There are still a couple of active switch offers for other banks, which will yield a lot more than cashback, in a much shorter time. All on the board.

Please tell us which reward credit cards are on the way out as there are still quite a few out there depending on what rewards you’re looking for?
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

Nationwide select for one, will that that not be the tip of the iceberg?

I live in Scotland so can't get a Halifax account.
I have a BoS rewards account that used to be a Halifax account and I still get my £2 a month on that.
I don't spend more than £500 a month on my credit card except for when I pay for holidays so wouldn't be spending that on a debit card.
I had a TSB account that I switched to Natwest and can't get another TSB account and I only have about 10 debit card purchases a month anyway.
I applied for a Halifax clarity card a while back but because I am a pensioner they wouldn't give me one.
I have a Tesco credit card so I suppose I could do more shopping in Tesco but it only has a £1000 limit and my Nationwide Select card was my main card for everything..
I have 4 direct debits with a Santander lite account which after the fee increase will give me £2.50 a month except in Feb. and Mar. when it will be £0.25p.
And Amex won't give me a credit card not high enough income.

I would never be able to meet the 60 transaction a month, that's 2 a day, I only ever go out once or twice a week now.
    Nor the 4 DDs

The 4 DD's you just need 1 weekly DD to a post office savings account.
I'll probably never get the 60, but pre covid would regularly exceed the 30 on the old limit. You can of course cheat & make numerous deposits via debit card into savings accounts which does seem a lot of hassle for 5p a go.

BTW the 60 transactions is the max amount not a requirement. So even if twice a week, you'd still get 40p cashback plus £2 reward from your PO DD

Not worth the hassle of opening up 2 or more  bank accounts, and who knows they might stop it all anyway.
I am seriously considering just putting all my money and direct debits into one bank account and keep a couple of thousand under the mattress for emergencies instead of shuffling money round 5 bank accounts at present.
I will of course keep the other accounts open, I never close a bank account except when I use it for switching

I don't live in Scotland, and I have a BOS current account (used to have 3 at some stage). Did you try applying for a Halifax one?  There are ways to get the monthly fivers that don't involve spending £500 in shops. See the separate thread about the Halifax Reward account.

I also applied for a Halifax Clarity as a pensioner and had no problem getting it. So if you were rejected, it's not because you are a pensioner. But there's no cashback on the Clarity card, so not relevant to this thread.

Why can't you get another TSB account? Many of us have several TSB current accounts.

OK, if you don't care about the odd easy-to-get £30, £50 or £100, that's fair enough. I just tried to be helpful since you did ask about rewards opportunities.  I have so far bagged £350 this year and I expect to get at least another £860 from switching and rewards over the next 12 months. That's in addition to the meagre cashback I get with my old Nationwide Select credit card and DDs

Should you change your mind, some offers are probably still available - there's usually a thread on here about the various offers.
