Bed wrong size

Hi, I’ve bought a bed from benson for beds in store and have waited 10 weeks for the bed to be delivered due to covid. I have got the bed and with the pillow on the bed I am to big, my legs over hang on the end. This for reason didn’t happened when I tested in the store. The bed is currently, double but I think I need a king. Is there anything I can do? The return policy says I can’t return unless there is a statuary rights. One of the draws doesn’t close properly due to an overtightened screw that keeps coming loose and obstructing the draw. I have reported this and benson for beds is sending a technician around. Do you think I can use this to exchange the bed? The mattress has a 40 day garuntee and can be exchanged if I don’t like it. Or would it be best being honest and hope for the best?
Appreciate any advice

Did you lie on a double in the store? If so, you must have been overhanging the top - double is a standard size and the display model will be the same size.I'm not sure you'll be able to reject for such a minor issue - if the technician can fix, you then have the working bed you ordered in the size you ordered it.I'd appeal to their better nature, but by buying in store you don't have an automatic right to swap for a bigger size.0

It is unlikely that an overtight screw will allow you to reject a bed, not buying the right bed is also no reason for them to allow a return. What size bed were you sleeping on previously, it seems odd to go out and buy a bed without knowing what size you want.
Incidentally a double bed is 6ft 3 inches long and a king is 6 ft 6 .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. How tall are you, and why does a pillow make any difference to the length of the bed? Unless you lie down with the top of your head against the bottom edge of the pillow for some reason. If so, just remove the pillow and the bed will be long enough.4

you do have to wonder how someone buys a bed that is too short if they tried it for size in store1 -
If OP lay on a king size in store but bought a double the difference in length is 3".photome said:

Why would someone test a king size and then agree to buy a double? I know some of these bed shops have a less than perfect reputation but it would seem odd for any to ‘down sell’ and sell a cheaper double bed when buyer is looking for a king.comeandgo said:

"with the pillow on the bed I am to big"
Why would OP make a point of mentioning the pillow, which has no effect on the length of the bed? Or OP, for that matter

Quite a few people don’t sleep with the top of their head right at the top of the pillow though0

Yeah and most people don’t test beds by getting on with their head right at the headboard eitherToxicWomble said:Quite a few people don’t sleep with the top of their head right at the top of the pillow though0 -
I was trying to point out that the relative position of head on pillow would/may make a difference in the effective length available for the rest of the body.0
