Meter Readings Never Given And Way Off Estimates

Comments

  • Thank you.

One of the reasons this has happened is because I’ve not had a proper bill either on paper or on email since over a year ago – it’s all about an app I made the mistake of not downloading.

Last year I was on a fixed tarrif of: Electricity242 kWh Gas 565 kWh

But in July 2020 it the tariff changed into a variable tariff which is why I looked into changing and check the meter readings.

It looks like the tariff is now Electricity 257 kWh and Gas 627 kWh

The estimated meter readings they have now are:

    Electricity 61112 Gas 0308

    The actual meter readings are?

    Electricity 62240  Gas 0724

Its pretty terrifying and I have no idea which tariff l will be billed on? Can someone please work this out for me / advise?

Welcome to the forum.  It gets messy when people 'gatecrash' existing threads, trying to work out which answer relates to which OP quickly gets muddled.  Far better to delete your post and start a new thread.

The ‘tariff’ isn’t a number of kWh ( your 257 & 627) it’s a cost, in pence, per kWh, so it will be something like 2.5p per kWh for gas and 12.5p per kWh for electric. Whatever you use you pay for, it’s not a fixed amount. Use more, pay more, use less, pay less. The electric looks like around £140 more than the estimate ( based on 12.5p per unit) probably plus VAT as well, so another £8, let’s say £150.
It’s most certainly not an ‘all you can eat’ for a fixed price.

If what you call your 'tariff' is actually your estimated consumption, then those figures are absurd: they are about one tenth of what the average household would consume in a year.
A meter unit of electricity is 1kWh, but a meter unit of gas is either 1 cu m or 100 cu ft, depending on whether it's a metric or imperial meter. The volume usage is then converted to kWh in the billing process.
You need to start again and give us some proper figures if you want advice.

What does a recent bill give the tariff as, so, how much per kWh??  I gave an example earlier of around 12.5p for electric and 2p for gas (per kWh) what are your numbers??

What is the name of your tariff and supplier?
You don't get billed on a different tariff because your consumption goes above a certain level. The tariff is based on a daily standing charge, and a unit kWh charge. Use more units, you pay for more.
If you need to download an app to view your bills, then why don't you do so?
No one can help you based on the garbled info you have posted.

Hey there. Have you posted on the correct thread? You start off by saying "Thank you. One of the reasons this has happened is because...."
Who are you thanking? What has happened? It sounds like you are continuing a conversation - but you're on the wrong thread.
Because of this, your actual problem is impossible to understand.
