Swapping opposite corner wheels over is a couple of minutes work, and knocking a tyre off and refitting it the correct way round is easy.As to the age of them, even tyre manufacturers admit they can easily last 10 years, and they are trying to sell them to you.I'd have just got the tyre swapped round and driven it back to the supplying garage for them to look at the other problems.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

When was the last MOT done. and are there any advisories on it?
Give us some context: make/model/mileage? Price paid? Main dealer or independent garage? How was the vehicle described?
Many cars sold at 4 years old will have a manufacturers warranty still running, or an add-on warranty of some sort.
How could she have test-driven it and not seen the tyre pressure warning light?

Come to think of it, how can you learn to drive without being taught what a clutch is??0 -

(Of course that means you can't legally drive a manual vehicle - at least not without L plates and accompanied by a qualified driver).0 -

Op in future when looking at cars to purchase have a good look at the tyres. They have a four digit code on them, the first two digits are the week they were produced and the second two the year. So 0220 would have been produced the second week in January 2020.
It appears somebody replaced the tyres using a random selection of part worn tyres. Tyres are a good indication of how the car has been looked after. 4 good premium tyres shows the owner does not scrimp on maintainance, 4 mismatched part worn tyres show they don't give a monkeys.
The mot only requires that the tyres are of the same size across the axle, fitted the correct way around if directional, and with any outside marking on the outside. And you can't mix radial and crossplys on the same axle but unlikely to come up these days.1
