Lloyds - create SO without phone call verification?

I want to set up 2 SO's on my Lloyds account (so I can switch it to HSBC). I'm currently abroad (non-EU) and while I can receive SMS to my mobile free, calls are pretty costly.
When I try to use OLB to set up SO's, it wants to call me to input a code; this is a new one for me, SMS verification is the norm I thought. But anyway.
Does anyone know, if via the app, you can set up SO's without this verification? I would like to avoid using the app as it requires waiting for a code being sent to my UK address, (at least it does if it's same as halifax), so will do it if i know it works.
Any help appreciated.

When using app, you will get the same options as on website. It will want to call you. Call is max 20s.

If you've previously registered the app then you don't get prompted to do this - the app just asks for your internet banking password to authorize any new payments/SOs/etc. Otherwise as above, it's a max 30 second phone call from the automated system if you use desktop browser to set up a payment. Not ideal, but could be worse.0

unfortunately I've not installed or registered the app previously, i just attempted to register the app and sure enough it wants to call me. Oh well.PRAISETHESUN said:If you've previously registered the app then you don't get prompted to do this
On the plus side, because the call failed, they'll mail me a password for the app, so that could be a way forward.
