Utility Point no statements or usage data!

Hello folks - I switch my gas and electricity each year, and last Dec/Jan switched to Utility Point. One statement was generated in Feb, and since, there's been nothing, but with everything going on I didn't notice and hadn't checked usage online - as I wasn't using heating much since May. My DD went out each month - but it seems no usage has been tracked.

I have a GAS old skool meter and a smart meter for electric - usually do regular meter readings but this now was before summer. I'm rather concerned at the lack of data on my account! Has anyone else had this with them? THere's a large credit now on the account and whilst the electric at least initially was being tracked, the Gas doesn't even appear!

I have just sent an email to them, to ask someone to look into this, but I am concerned to ensure that their records are accurate and that if they are missing this much info (or perhaps just their software is up the creek) that further detrimental errors may ensue! I'd be interested in anyone else's view/experience on UP - and I shall be looking to switch again this winter and will want my account up to date and settled accurately! As long as they can update accurately with current readings all should be fine. The money is sitting there in the account.
Thanks

  • Did you give them readings? Can you not calculate your usage based on your own readings?
  • I did give readings, yes and they're on the account. Last one was May (and now today). Any good online calcs for this based on tariiffs that'll include standing charges etc? I'm more concerned that they may be incompetent and mess things up when I need to switch.

So you gave a meter reading in May & again today ??
According to UP terms & conditions you have to give them meter reading every month.

In my experience Utility Point send an email every  month asking for your meter readings....have you got a record of the readings you submitted? Forget the smart meter.....DIY

May I suggest that had you sent in monthly readings you may have got monthly statements on your on-line account.

It doesn't always follow and some suppliers really are poor but if you take control, read your meters every month, send in the readings and then chase up bills if they don't appear then you stand much more chance of getting it sorted out before it really goes awry. It much better than waiting for six months and then getting a bit worried because nothing seems to be happening. Not only that, you'd have your own set of meter readings as evidence so you can check your final bill.

    Just my opinion you understand

  • All sorted in the end, they updated records, worry over. Thanks folks.
