Noisy Neighbours

It's almost 8pm and for the past 3 hrs our neighbours have been playing music. I've been sat at the back of our house with the window's shut and I thought, Oh, girl next door must be on her way out. Then I went out into the garden (to bring washing in not complain), and girl next door's mom said: Can you hear that music? I looked up and it wasn't girl next door at all.

It's not the neighbours across the road either.

No, it's the neighbours behind them!

Now, 8pm on a lovely sunny evening isn't a bad time to be playing rave and dance music at 48 decibels. But we all know that we're in for this until at least 4am tomorrow morning! They'll all get drunk and dance about the garden and the boom box will be turned up full blast with the windows thrown wide open. They even do it in the rain. And in the middle of winter.

The woman who lives in this particular house doesn't really like our estate. It's too quiet.

WELL, BOG OFF AND GO LIVE SOMEWHERE NOISY THEN. WE like it.

The neighbours with children at school in the morning will no doubt go and have a word. But it should be just as important for people who have to be at work in the morning too.

Now there's an idea - do you think they'll have a recipe for stink bombs over in Old Style? I have loads in my Harry Potter game too!

We had to move bedroom, from the front of our house to the back because of these selfish people. Good job we had the spare room to do so!

People like these are making our lives a misery. We have an out of hours noise service but it is only open Thursday - Sunday nights.

The police do not usually come out to this sort of thing but will enough people ring them to complain, especially midweek.

Your environment health department can write to these people warning them about their behaviour without saying who has reported them.

There was something on the news the other day about this, they are doing a trial in Scotland (Edinb I think) the council has a 24 hr service with the power to say turn it off, if they refuse, the man will issue a 60 pound (or 100 pound can't remember) on the spot fine, if they can't pay I suppose they can be arrested and dealt with in court, where the fine can be increased. The spokesman said they have had lots of call outs all dealt with successfully and he said they have only had to threaten court action twice, on both occasions the person (scum bag) paid up before it went to court.

So there will be a demand for this scheme to go nationwide. If you want to speed things up just write to your MP and mention the trial scheme being used in Edinburgh. Something has to be done about noisy neighbours.

In my street we had a house opposite who played his music almost nightly, we told him to turn it down which he did politely and during the day he was a nice neighbour so you feel a bit annoyed that he is nice and he knows we don't like loud music, but he does it anyway, and you can't go and say all the time "turn it down". It wasn't all bad though because he pretty much always turned it down/off at 10pm. He has moved out now and we have relatively quiet times now.

Equally annoying is the people above us who have dogs there are about 3 houses1 has 1 dog the next has 2 dogs and the next has probably 4 or more dogs and they all yap away incesantly sometimes.
