Just wondering if any one has come across this with these rip off merchants?
I have just recently cancelled my policy by email and now they are asking for a cancellation fee.
I have had no call outs with this company and I’m in the second year of the policy which is way past their terms and conditions on having to repay fees etc.
However they are stating that although my renewal of the policy was in June 2020 this was in fact a new contract and I’m now within the 12 month period and will have to pay fees? My question is although my policy number is the same, my direct debit mandate hasn’t changed, I haven’t knowingly entered into a new contract and all correspondence from them clearly states “Renewal” is this legally correct?

It depends on what it says in the Terms and Conditions. But "Renewal" would normally mean a new 12 month contract - it does with most other forms of insurance.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
