Enforced annual leave in notice period

Hi everyone. Looking for some advice, I am currently in the consultation process of my redundancy. As part of the notice period they are enforcing a rule that I need to take a weeks annual leave. Is this right?! I took two weeks holiday this year whilst I was on furlough since April to avoid having lots of holiday leftover when I thought I’d be returning to work in November. It feels unfair to me. Please help!

Your employer can always tell you when to take annual leave1

Yup, as long as you have 2 weeks notice then its all perfectly legal.0

If it is in the contract they don't need to give any notice.

Using up leave entitlement whilst under notice is perfectly acceptable standard practice. Why wouldn't it be?0

As others have said, they can ask you to take your holidays during your notice period, unless you are able to negotiate otherwise.1

I was made redundant with 12 notice period required, I have 17 days holiday to use and they made me take it as oppsoed to paying me out in my final salary. I was lucky enough though to be on furlough in June when they told me, with my notice period starting on 1st July, I just squeezed the 17 days in to June. My furlough paymnet for these days was topped up to my full day, it felt like a very small victory but a victory nonetheless1
