Look back 12 months and find a bill with an ACTUAL reading on it; now read your meter and do your own sums.

You do read your meter don't you ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

If they really think that you will be using £25K worth of energy a year, then your DD needs to go up to about £2K a month. Not £4k!
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I have smart meters. I can see I use about £2-£3 a day.

Their bill estimates £1300 of usage. Their DD says £26000

Have your smart meters gone dumb?  Do your bills show actual or estimated readings?

A bit of both. They take reading and then try and estimate. It looks like they have bumped up my estimate.

I have just been on the web chat and got the amount reduced back to what it was.
I use about £1000 a year. My Direct Debits were £103 a month and I was £126 in credit even with a £70 switch fee) So I was expecting a drop of about £10 a month not an increase from £103 to £219.
    Anyway all sorted now.

Get into the habit of reading your meters every month - it can nip issues like this in the bud.

Even without regular meter readings there is no way the system should issue an estimate of £25K gas use for a domestic property.
  • What was the issue, a dodgy customer reading? ;)

No I have a smart meter (ad mentioned above) and rerads were not estimates they were their reads. They look about right to. ;)
