Do I have shares?

How do I find out if I still have shares in a company? I have found a tax voucher for a dividend for shares in my name dating back to 1990. Can I find out if these shares still exist? Also I think the company was taken over by another company which may mean the shares ceased to exist. I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks.

You'll need to contact the share registrar of the current company, which will be shown in the investor relations section of their website. If you share the name of the company on here, people will probably be able and willing to help you follow the trail - when did you last receive a dividend?0

Name of the company concerned would help. 1990 is a long time ago many names from back then are long gone.0

The company was called Blue Circle.0

Looks like they were taken over in 2001 and a cash shareout was made for the shares by Lafarge. a French company who then merged with Holcim in 2015.
You could ask the registrars but IMO the shares have gone since 2001.1 -
If no cash was received then presumably shares in the successor companies were issued, Lafarge Holcim aren't listed in the UK though, believe they have New York and Paris listings, and possibly Switzerland too.0
