Humax Freesat box now doesn't function with iplayer

Suddenly iplayer stops working and though I can get into the app it wont load a programme and "play from the beginning" doesn't work. Apart from recording programs this was the box's main function. bbc iplayer say it's a known fault and Humax say:

We are aware of an ongoing outage with the BBC iPlayer. This is under heavy investigation by both our support team and the support team for the BBC iPlayer.
Unfortunately this is a complex fault and taking some time to resolve. I do not presently have a timeline for restoring function as the investigation is still in progress.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for updates on this.
I only apologise for the outage and any inconvenience caused by this.

so I suspect that it will never function again, what the consumer position, should they send me a box that does work with iplayer or should I just cut my losses and buy a new box?

Buy a fire stick/roku/any other cheap streaming solution. BBC are always messing around with their “app” , if your hummy works for everything else no need to expend too much

I've got a chromecast so can stream from iplayer on my phone but it cant do 'play from beginning' as far as I can see with a programme guide. So I have to wait until the current program is put on iplayer (1st world problems , I know, but its not doing what I bought it for so surely there is a grievance procedure to get a box to replace it from Humax?)

Yeah the problem has been ongoing for about a week now. The BBC site https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/known-issues gives some pretty useless info.
I use my Roku stick now for iplayer.  All other streaming services through my hummy are working fine.

Nope you bought it for satellite reception and recording the rest are addons which are not necessarily the main function, they can't be held liable for the fact that BBC change their interface etc.

iPlayer should be okay as from today, according to the Humax forum website. YouTube is still inaccessible from Humax though.

Thanks my Humax is Freeview  does not Freesat have channel 100  as that has the apps as well .

Not as far as I know, my very old Humax Foxsat HDR used to have them on 900/901 but that was about 7 years ago before BBC/ITV messed with iPlayer etc. I have never needed to upgrade from the HDR since it has custom firmware which allows me to Telnet/FTP/streaming etc via ip.
