I want to transfer some files from my WIN10 desktop to my Moto G8 plus phone by USB File Transfer. When connected the Moto G8 is showing in Windows with the Internal Storage and the SD Card but when you click on either of them it says the folder is empty.
Media Monkey advises I should download this https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb to solve the problem. Before doing so could someone plus confirm this is ok? Every other phone I have had never needed extra drivers!

You shouldn't need to install anything. When you plug the phone into the computer the phone asks you if you want to allow the computer access to the files on the phone. If you don't allow this then you cannot access anything on the phone via the computer. Are you allowing the computer access to the phone?

As above, you need to unlock your phone and specifically select File Transfer from the USB Preferences menu. I've literally just tried this right now with my own Moto G8 Plus ... no need to download any drivers.1

Thanks for the replies. I had already done what you both advise and it will not me let transfer files. The desktop can see the Moto and show the internal storage folder and the SD card folder but when I open either of them the folders are empty and I cannot copy and paste anything into them.0

Tried plugging it into a different USB port on your computer? (Sometimes the configuration for a port/device can get corrupted - using another port can sometimes sort this out).1

That did it thanks. I have had a few Moto's and this is the first time I have had a problem.
Transferring music files from my Win10 music manager(Media Monkey) is still a problem (even on a different USB) so I will reinstall it and see if that sorts it out.0
