Hi, my girlfriend has received 3 text messages from cap quest requesting her to call to discuss her account. We don’t know what this is about and have not called them back. She only took out a car loan and we think it is possible it triggered her name on an old debt database. She has not had any finance in the last 7-8 years so if it is her debt it has to be over 6 years old. The only thing we think it could be is an old phone contract. Should we call them for the details or ignore. Her clear score and Experian credit score does not show any debts other than her car finance she took out 3 months ago.
thanks
thanks

Hi,You only have to respond if they write to you, emails, texts calls etc can be ignored. If they are serious, they will eventually put something in writing, then you would respond with the provit letter.Sounds like whatever it is may be could be statute barred, so let them do the donkey work, don`t correspond with them unnecessarily.Ask for advice here if required.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Still no letter recieved and they still keep texting.. They havent called again, as i would just say to send a letter. When they last rang we didnt answer any security questions other than confirming a postage address.. I assume that is enough for them to send a letter if they wanted0

Also,
my partner just received another text from capquest today saying ‘you no longer have an agreement in place with us on your account. To get back on track reply 1 by text’.
does this mean they have given up or is there a chance they could proceed in another manner or even sell on the debt?
thanks0 -
It means nothing, it’s just a text sent with the intention of getting you to contact them, to get the money from you, no more, no less.
Ignore them, as advised, until they write to you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi again,We just had a call from capquest. We said to send a letter in which they said they did already but we have not recieved anything. When we asked what address was it sent to they said they couldnt say unless we answered security questions. Should we answer the security questions? because if we dont i dont think we will ever find put anymore details on thisThanks0

Hi again,Just wondering if this could come up in a hard credit search. We just applied for a mortgage and hoping this isnt going to be an issue. My partner has had car finance approved a few years ago with no issue so I assume it shouldnt come up on her credit report?Thanks0
