Plumbers scratched our

Options
Hello,

we’re renting a property and we have had plumbers come round to fit a brand new boiler system. Unfortunately they just scratched our brand new washing machine and tumble dryer. As well as chipped our paint all down our banister. We have tried to accommodate as much available space as possible. Moved out furniture and covered it. The banister is not too much of an issue for us. However the scratches on our brand new Washing machine and tumble dryer are. We asked them to be more careful and were very polite. However we can’t shake the fact that it’s not the first time we told them to be careful. They also poured out green water on our driveway which also went on the cars wheels and grass. Even though the drain was right there.

any advice?

If your washer and dryer still work what do you want them to do? You can ask them to repaint the bannister or tiny bit of money off so you can do it yourself.

  • My washer is a bit battered now as well, but my dishwasher has seen better days. Do you think I should trade her in for a twenty year old?

Yeah go for it, has scratches on it now so it ain’t good to me. 👍🏻

You might think I’m being petty but I have worked really hard for these things. Would you not be a little bit ticked off if someone came into your home and weren’t being careful after you politely asked them to be.

I understand that fitting in a boiler turns your house upside down but it doesn’t excuse mess where you have rubbish flying around your garden and a stained driveway & scratches on your appliances.

I posted this for advice in a forum where you can vent :) so please no need for rude comments....

The great British public really have lost their sense of humour!
Yes, you are quite understandably annoyed but Beardy's post wasn't rude.

I recently had a new DW delivered which was scratched by the courier.  Retailer offered a new machine, however I asked for and got  £100 goodwill refund and stuck a magnet over the scratch. :)

Are you the owner of the property renting it out, or renting the property from the owner?  If you are not the owner you need to report the bannister and drive damage to the owner to ensure you don't get billed for it.

  • What's the make of the appliances. I have a Samsung heat pump dryer cost £800 and Samsung washing machine cost £600 I would be angry if someone scratch  them. If it my Beko  in my garage I wouldn't mind.  But how did they scratch it was it a tight area. My stuff is in a utility room but if it was in a small area different story.
