MSE Energy Club Autoswitch Vs Look After My Bills or doing it yourself?

In terms of pricing what are people's experiences?
Look After My Bills-I've been told for several weeks now they have a computer glitch and every week they keep telling me they can switch me "next week". Getting ridiculous.
MSE autoswitch-new service is it as good as the MSE Energy club?
Or finally is it still just better to do it yourself using MSE, USwitch, etc.
I think there is something to be said for convenience though I don't mind searching out deals myself if it is going to save me £100+ plus per year.
Thanks in advance...

Do it yourself.  You won't limit your search to companies who will pay you backhanders and can therefore search out the best deal.  You can also do a bit of research on your chosen supplier(s) before taking the plunge.  Most importantly, if you use both gas & electricity, you can search for separate suppliers, which is probably going to give you the cheapest outcome.
  • I thought dual fuel was cheaper-is that not the case?

Are we talking £100+ per year? I pay about £65 dual fuel per month.

Do it yourself. Look After My Bills have a poor reputation ,having switched lots of people to Together Energy - many of those are desperate to escape from T.E and report having zero help from L.A.M.B. The MSE auto switch service is unproven.
Also agree with looking at separate suppliers for both - I've not found a cheaper dual fuel deal for my usage since 2016!!

You would think that dual fuel would be cheaper, but it hasn't been for me for many years and it's rare to see a post from anyone stating that dual fuel is cheaper for them.

Unlikely, but there's only one way to find out - DIY.
Start with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?', to make sure you see all suppliers, although other sites may have exclusive offers. MSE and LAMB don't include all suppliers.
  • I am thinking of joining this, but have just had a letter informing me that 1 of my meters is about to expire and they will be fitting an upgrade soon,ie a smart meter,do I have a choice about this as I don't trust smart meters ?

You don't have to have a smart meter.  Some big suppliers make them mandatory on some tariffs, and some such as E.On have a poor reputation, e.g. implying that existing meters are unsafe and can only be replaced by smart meters.  Fortunately, many smaller suppliers don't insist, so you can vote with your feet if they keep trying to bamboozle you.
