O/S Daily Wednesday 7 October 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, not raining at the moment.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was lasagne - tasted really delicious and there's LO's for tonight - so that's tonight's dinner sorted.
Yesterday was ok, although I spent most of it shadowing another job as we are all having to learn new things. I don't mind as it gives me another skill. Last day at work then on days' off until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, always good to learn something new.
Showery this morning, hope it clears up as we are having the car valeters at school today, I missed out last time and I can't remember the last time my car was washed although it's not too bad inside. It has been emptied of all the carp that ends up in there - how many shopping bags does one person need?!
Washing to go on the pulley when it has finished, the kitchen table is now quite clear of clutter as I sorted all the paperwork last night, another job done.
Hope your appointment went well RR, I was thinking of you yesterday.
Hope all's well with you and you all have a good day. Take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A fine day ahead but the temp is dropping day by day. 13 deg forecast for today. I have a big clump of Japanese anemone in the front garden and I noticed yesterday that they are now looking past their best so my first job this morning is to cut those back. Soon there will be no colour left.
After threatening to do them for weeks I finally made a start on cleaning the windows inside yesterday. I got all the upstairs ones done with plans to do the downstairs ones today. We'll see if that happens! And the phantom freezer messer-upper has been at it again so they are looking in need of a good sort out too.
I hope yesterday went as well as it could for REDRUBY and GERS' stitch removal wasn't too painful. BELLA I hope the day improved for you too. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care one and all and stay sane and safe. x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Shopping today, a big stock up of dried and tinned food in case we get stuck somewhere. We are forecast more rain and parts of the Thames and the Kennet are already Red Boarded. iIt was about this time last year that the waterway became too dangerous to navigate.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning all weather looks dry but windy and chilly . We await Boris's chat tonight with bated breath hoping for just another 45 mins of waffle and no changes before 6pm Sunday for us . DD1 is being treated for meningitis at the moment as they still are not sure what is wrong and are awaiting the results of her lumber punch . In better news I have reorganised the help for Sundays do so we are all good to go . I will be collecting DD2 tomorrow along with her nutty dog so the fun will commence then.
Today is floor washing and tidying the xmas bits away in her room as her boyfriend will arrive after we leave for my mums so i don't need to get the spare bed out . Other than that i think we are all done just hair and beauty to be done over the next few days .
Ruby I was thinking of you yesterday and I hope you have managed to sort the way forward out in your own mind x
Gers I hope the stitch removal wasn't too painful x
Hester stay safe
Dinner tonight sausage casserole
Right better get on and walk the dog Have a good day one and all xSlava Ukraini12 -
Good morning folks. The stitches are out, took about five minutes and completely painless 😀 though I had taken a couple of paracetamol beforehand. Second op booked for the end of November with the hope of an earlier cancellation.New COVID-19 restrictions are to be announced today though the FM said yesterday that there wouldn't be a 'circuit breaker' or national lockdown which is a relief of sorts. I imagine localised regulations.RR - I really hope that you feel better soon. 🥰
I'm meeting a friend for a breakfast date, today I will have toast again. After that I have no idea of what's in my day.Happy Wednesday to all.12 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Hester what happens if the waterways become dangerous? Are you allowed to moor up somewhere and stay on the boat or do you have to leave the boat and find somewhere to stay?
When I got up, the sky was clear but now there are pink clouds, shepherd's warning. I hope for a dry day as per the forecast as I don't want to drip into the dentists surgery.
I have noticed the last few mornings that the pigeons are actually fighting over bird table occupation rights. Yesterday one pecked another to make it fly away and today, one has pushed another out. A third one has joined the pushing out pigeon but they must be friends as they are eating together. The whole thing has become wobbly now with all these huge fat things landing on it. And they leave 2 sorts of presents, one is feathers and the other is less welcome.
TA the only colour, apart from leaves, in my garden is violas. Everything else has finished now. Good to have a green space for a little longer, until the rest of the leaves come down.
I started soaking the fruit for a Christmas cake yesterday, will go and see how much brandy it has taken in and if more is needed.
OH made a very nice casserole yesterday and I've very nearly finished soaking the dish to get the burnt bits off.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning everyone Been catching up on the last few days. I've had eldest daughter home with me for the last few days... It has been so lovely as I hadn't seen her since the beginning of January. We've been sensible and stayed in the house other than long walks across empty fields and she went to see granny and grandad and they all sat outside. She feels happier now that she has seen us again. So she flies back to Stockholm this afternoon....no idea when we'll see each other again, but at least we've had a few days. Hope everyone has a good day10

Bella, I hope DD1 feels better soon and they get to the bottom of what is wrong.
I've been managing to stick to my to do list for the last two days but I m not patting myself on the back just yet. I think part of the problem I had with lists in the past was making them for a whole week and then when a day went wrong the whole week went out of kilter, at least doing a day at a time I know what's coming up.
I'm off to Lidl this morning for veg and other essentials. Which reminds me, I was watching Eat well for Less a couple of weeks ago and the woman was mocked for shopping at different supermarkets for different things. It makes sense to me, I buy a lot of my things in Lidl but then there are items they either don't stock or have a limited range (I'm thinking things like pulses and herbs and spices).12 -
Morning all! Shiny new keyboard arrived yesterday so although there may be typos, they'll be all my own fault. And I won't have to resist the urge to throw it through the window. Today is cleaning for real time. I had a funny five minutes yesterday and smashed down all the cardboard I was saving for the garden because I'm sure I'll get more and it's now in the boot of the car. I made a tip appointment on Monday so that's tomorrow and after the garage clear out the boot will be full and then I will feel virtous about chucking things out, sorry, recycling. The fire is laid ready for a cold snap but I still haven't ordered any wood.Found out last night a friends husband has had a stroke at 46, they said it was a trauma stroke and could have been caused by a too tight collar...I'd never even heard of that before.I'm off to pick up some blankets from freecycle in a minute. I like a duvet, but I do like a heavy blanket too, so they will actually be used as blankets for the minute, until it gets too cold and then the big guns will come out i.e.the 10 tog duvet. Right, off to do stuff for a change...Bella, how awful for her, hope you get some news soon.Gers, good to know it was painless..AOD, at least he didn't leave a kitchen full of pans...or did he? dp1,glad you got to see your daughter..snoozer, let them mock, they're missing a trick, I like shopping at different ones, they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Hello to all coming later and those reading along. Stay sane on a wobbly Wednesday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
