Struggling to find R40 form online.

Options
Can l get some help and advice on where to get the R40 form online to fill to claim tax back on some ppi l got back in March.
l did get onto HMRC and filled a form in but wasn’t sure if it was the right one as it didn’t ask for the ppi tax details anywhere so l deleted it .
It may have been the right form but where would l put these details for the ppi tax down in the form. Has anyone got a link l can put in so l know it’s the right one .
Also as l’m claiming tax back on a few ppi’s do l have to fill separate forms or can they be done altogether on one form..

  • PPI refunds aren't taxable income and don't have tax deducted.

The statutory interest paid alongside PPI refunds is taxable and does have tax tax deducted.

An R40 is basically a simple tax return for you to declare all your taxable income for a particular tax year.

  • Thanks for replying.
This is the form l filled in as mentioned but l deleted it as l thought it wasn’t the right one.
Can someone tell me where l fill out the details required for ppi tax interest and what information l have to put down .
  • The statutory interest paid alongside the PPI refund is taxed interest.  So goes in the taxed interest section.  You will need the gross amount, tax deducted and net amount.  It might look something like this,

    Gross £500
    Tax £100
    Net £400

Normal (non ISA) interest goes in the untaxed interest section.
  • You need to stop thinking about PPI / PPI refund, that's irrelevant.
You were taxed on the interest element of the refund, which is just like interest on savings, so you submit the form detailing the interest you earned for the year (including any savings interest you earned) and were taxed on and let them do the rest
