  • Hi everyone,

To cancel your BG Services payments, simply ‘log in’ to your British Gas account:

    1, Select ‘Manage Account’.
    2, Select ‘My Account’.
    3, Select ‘Account Overview’.
    4, Select ‘View My Cover’.
    5, Finally ‘Cancel My Cover’.

I would cancel your DD on your bank account too under BG Services just to completely see the back of these payments.

I have looked at the cover I am receiving from BG for £13/month and it actually looks pretty good. It covers boiler repair, electrical wiring and plumbing (drains and hot water).
    Albeit, I still cancelled.

    Good luck.
  • OK. So I'm very slow at keeping up with things Dual Fuel, Direct Debit etc but so relieved that when checking for something else I took a look at this post.
Many thanks for MSE Forums and all the good things found within. You'd have thought that an organisation the size of British Gas would realise there might be a problem here when customers leave and take their business elsewhere wouldn't you?

The really shocking part is that if you actually need a repair they will tell you that you need a new boiler because the parts are no longer available (only not available to them a local will source them with no problem).  They won't care as they have already had way too much of your money.  But if you aren't careful they will condemn your boiler.

Completely agree, British Gas condemned a boiler I had in a previous house and told me it was dangerous and not to use it and it needed to be replaced.  I got a local company out and it just needed to be serviced and cleaned as it hadn’t been done for many years (I’d just moved in and not thought to get it checked out).  They sorted it out I had them back once a year to service it, and it was still fine when I moved out 7 years later.

I wouldn’t ever use British Gas again, and wouldn’t take out there car plan, I would always use a local company, much better value for money.
