Agile Octopus and Economy 7
I have a 30amp AGA which charges overnight on Economy 7. I'm currently with OutFox the Market and deliberating changing to the Agile Octopus tariff. My concern is that Octopus with replace my current two rate meter with one of their smart ones that send readings every 30 minutes and I wonder what would happen if I found that tariff didn't suit me and I wanted to go back to an economy 7 one - would that particular smart meter work with other suppliers' E7 tariffs or would I have to go through the rigmarole of getting another E7 meter installed?

The smart meters are compatible with E7 so that should not be a problem, but you would need to pick a supplier that is registered with the DCC and able to handle smart meters.... but... if you did plan to move to a smaller supplier that doesn't use smart meters then I'd suggest you switch to E7 with Octopus first, then move, so the meter would be in the right mode before you switched.Octopus has no exit fees on tariffs so you can switch between then at any time.1
