I use Outlook on my PC running Windows 10. Handles all my mail absolutely fine, except if I get an e-mail from my bank, then if I try and open the e-mail, Outlook immediately shuts down. Any ideas ? I can access the messages no problem logging onto my bank online, it's just in e-mail form there seems to be a problem. Any help appreciated.

I wonder if there's a link in the email body that Windows Defender doesn't like.

You're talking about Outlook the email app that's part of Office, yes? (Just clarifying, as there are a few variations, including outlook.com website and outlook.com email addresses).

My pet gripe ...

MS had Outlook as part of Office

Then they made Outlook Express, a trimmed down free version to go with W95 (?)

Then they decided to call Hotmail, Outlook ..... just to keep everything simple!  🤔

First confirm in webmail that your bank email really is your bank email and not a scam.  If it looks ok, check if you have any rules that trigger on the bank email.  Lastly, try outlook in safe mode.
