Solar Power Battery Backup
Options
Greetings to all
About 10 years ago I followed Moneysaver advice, and had PV (electric) generation panels installed. They have paid for themselves.
Currently, Eastern county councils are combining bids for the installation of battery backup, to increase the usage of any power I generate.
On the face of it this looks to be a good opportunity, the panels should have another 10+ years of life and we might reduce the bills even further.
Question: Does anyone out there have any experience of the finances and practicalities of these systems?

Greater Manchester councils did a group buying scheme at the end of last year and I had panels and a 2.2Kw/h battery installed in January.
You don't benefit all that much from the battery in winter as there aren't enough daylight hours to get a full charge into it. In the summer months the battery is fully charged by around mid-morning. That 2.2Kw/h is enough to get you through an evening of having lights on, watching TV, and boiling the kettle a couple of times without taking any power off the grid - provided you don't do something silly like running the washing machine.
Year-on-year comparison shows I've used 67% less power from the grid this year compared to before the system was installed.0
