Hello all
Pls can somebody help me. I have a share owership flat (2 bedroom flat) for the past 10 years. I own 50% of of the property. I have tried all possible means to sell my share but all to no avail. We even tried to get a property from the council but council declined due to the fact that I had a share ownership property. Now I have informed the housing association that I want to sublet the property so that I can get a bigger place. But the housing association has been very reluctant to accept this. My mortgage provider ia happy with my plan but the Housing association has been reluctant. I explained to the housing association that I have 4 children (age 14, 10, 6 and 3 years old) The 14 years is a a girl. She need her own room. The 6 year old is Autistic and require his own room and space. He wakes up during the night and wake up the rest of the children most of the time. my partner and myself have to share the room with the children or sleep in living room most of the times. Pls does anybody know what step to take. I want to move out but the Housing association does not want to accept this. Who can I report this issue to. Any suggestion please ?. I informed the Housing association that I will definitely buy (staircase) the rest of the property before the end of term for sublet.
Thanks

What has prevented you from being able to sell your 50% share?0 -
You can move out if you want, no-one stopping you doing that.
Absolutely no obligation for them to allow you to let it out. This seems like a situation of your own making to some degree, surely just sell it...0 -

SO is a niche and for all the threads banging about SO being a step on the housing ladder and you must get it, this is another reason not to go with SO ergo housing ladder at all costs."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Why do adults feel like their hand needs to be held?
You voluntarily entered into this ownership scheme, this is one of the downsides.1 -

There isn't a body to help. I'm not sure why you think there should be. You chose to purchase a 2-bedroom SO property and then you chose to increase the size of your family.
I don't understand why you can afford to staircase to 100% when the sublet ends (whenever that might be) but that you can't do it now. How do you intend being able to staircase to 100% and why would you want to if you no longer want to live in the property.0 -
