Hello all,

My Shell energy Fixed November 2020 plus Smart tariff is coming to the end of its term, expiring 30th November.
Shell are offering me a few options for a new tariff but are way more expensive than the tariff offered on MSE Energy Club which is not listed as a renewal option in my Shell account. e.g.
Energy January 2022 v2 will save me £173/yr but shell are not offering me it

So my question is: What will happen if i switch via MSE EC within the same supplier but to a tariff they are not offering me?

Regards

I successfully switched to another Shell tariff via Compare the Market (to a tariff Shell that didn't offer me directly).

I had to have a smart meter installed, but that didn't bother me.

Well i might roll the dice and switch via MSE EC and feed back the result here so future people can see what happens
    Thanks for your responses

Make sure you also compare using Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.  The CEC does not compare all suppliers.  Separate suppliers are likely to be cheaper than dual fuel.

Also, remember to do the maths yourself!

I believe that comparison sites base their 'saving' figures on 'once your current agreement ends'.

You should have an annual usage summary in your Shell account.

Electricity, multiply the annual usage by the KWh cost and then add your daily standing charge for the year.

Gas, use the formula on each bill and then add your daily standing charge for the year.

This will then show the 'true' savings if you used exactly the same energy year on year.
  • Ahh balls. I went through the MSE link and it was the cheapest deal for me. When I had a look on their site the deals weren't listed, they were different. I wondered if it was just bad info so I went through TCB on their longest or 2nd longest deal, can't remember which now even though it was only last night. Wondering if I've made a bit of a mistake doing that.
