I am also in Bristol and just converted our garage into a room, this included building a stud wall and installing a new ceiling. I needed a mix of 2x2, 3x2 and 4x2. I tried everywhere around Bristol including national places like Travis Perkins and none could supply what I needed for as cheaply as this website https://www.buildingmaterials.co.uk

It was odd as I got it for a great price from them with free delivery and when it all came it came from Travis Perkins on one of their vans, but I paid about £50 less than TP quoted. I ordered on Monday evening and it all got delivered by Thursday. They called me on the Tuesday morning to say they couldn't supply 3m lengths of 3x2 but they could supply 3.6m lengths at no additional cost if that was ok, which obviously it was.

You don't need 2x4" timber for a shed unless it is a huge one - A lot of ready made sheds use 28x44mm timber or smaller..
2x3" will give you a very sturdy shed and will be a little cheaper than 2x4".
I'm using plans for an 8x12' shed, so I'd rather use the stronger stuff. But I'll look at 2x3 anyway, thanks:)
I usually over engineer things like that. There won't be a great extra cost if you use the larger size timber and you will probably end up with a much better shed.

Be aware that timber is in short supply in many areas due to Covid19 and also the extra demand as people are spending money on their homes that they would normally spend on holidays and going out. My advice is to secure all your supplies before you start building so you don't end up short part way through.

Make sure you have a strong, level and stable base. That is very important.

What are you using for the roof? Avoid cheap shed felt and buy a decent product that will last.

I suggest EPDM if you don't mind the black colour. If you don't like black. buy the best quality green (or other colour) roofing you can find as that will be cheaper in the long term.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I got my framing timbers from secondhand timber place (i used 4x2 just makes everything more secure, ) used UPVC windows & Door secondhand, 125mm x 19mm loglap got it from ebay the place i used was near doncaster and deliveried (cheapest i could find, used EPDM for roof & used their roofing trims most expensive part of sheds I've built, but the trims do set the off nice.
on first shed i built i put sacifice wood on the corners (30mm X 20mm) so if damaged when running lawnmower around i could renew just that piece, but now i use aluminium angle 50mm x 50mm (top to bottom)
I built my framework on top of concrete bricks (turned sidewards up) then first strip of shiplap overlapped the bricks by 20mm so rainwater would have a clear drop to the floor and could not get under the framework timbers
