A fire door,
Is the floor in the garage lower than the house ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Garage is lower by about 150mm0

Technically it should also be an insulated door with maximum U-value of 1.8 W/m2.K if your garage is unheated. But always seems difficult to find an insulated fire door as external doors don't need fire protection, and it's very much a UK thing to require a fire door between the garage and house.1

Also well worth fitting a door with a real good locking system - I used a 15 point lock plus dead bolts for my door. Probably a bit over the top, but it was a good price at the time.A new doorway will require lintels and the work should be compliant with building regs and signed off by Building Control. For some people, this isn't important, but it will cause issues when you come to sell. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -

Beefing up the locks on internal doors is a waste of time (in my opinion). Once burglars are in, they have all the time in the world to get through it. It's the external doors (ie garage door) that needs sorting out if you do this.Signature on holiday for two weeks2

Memory serves me right 60 min fire door not 30 and that includes the frame as others have said good locks are essential1

Only require 30 minutes, not 60 minutes so an FD30 with a self-closer will suffice.1

Thanks all, so I will get a 30min door and frame. Yes I know about lintels, it is an outside 11inch wall.
Not worried about regs as this is a long term house and if necessary we will remove door and brick up when selling.0
