esurv scheduled valuation for a month away!

Options
After Nationwide deliberated over our mortgage application for 7 weeks before declining it, we've jumped ship to Halifax - however, their valuation company esurv have come back with a month to wait before the property we're looking to purchase is valued!  Any ideas as to how this might be sped up?!  Thanks!

Cross your fingers that there's an appointment cancellation before then.

I hope you know why the original lender has declined and not simply applying blind to halifax

Thanks - yes, we were advised of their reason and taken decisions based on this.

Have you requested the normal mortgage report & valuation, or a more in-depth survey?

Our valuation survey with esurv was within 7-10 days of being booked and that was only in the last few weeks. Guess it depends on the workload of the surveyors in the area?
  • A brokers tip - get the estate agent to call Esurv to book in the survey - it beats the phone out queue

I am selling my house privately without a estate agent. Been chasing up my buyers broker who told me valuation was booked 21/09 - but I never had a call.
He passed me the details - I called them Monday 05/10 and valuation was done today 07/10
    So agree - call them!

@tcw6 Hi, what I did was go for the valuation with Halifax (£200) - it was done within a week. Then I got a building survey done, a few weeks later.

Worked out slightly more expensive but allowed the mortgage to be offered.

    Good luck

I had the misfortune of Halifax using eSurv as their surveyor a year ago when I was buying a property, they are by far the worst surveyor I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. If you can use a different surveying company then do so.

Before I got Halifax to do the Homebuyers survey I contacted a few local surveying companies and they all said they were booked up for about a month so they seem to be subject to high demand in my area.

But this^ worked for me. Esurv were slow to get in contact (beyond the 3-5 days advised by Halifax). Halifax gave me their number, I passed it to the EA on a Friday, valuation and survey booked in for the following Friday.
