Paying for a warranty claim.

Hi everyone, I have a dorma loft conversion that has developed a damp patch around the corner of the upvc windows. The extension is nearly 5yrs old and the work has a 10yr warranty. To claim on the warranty I first need to call someone out which is a charge of £150+vat.
This is obviously to dissuade from claiming unless necessary but it also says it will only payout if the claim is due to material failure or poor workmanship.
We took photos immediately but I can't help feeling someone is going to come out, claim it's not their fault and we'll lose the money.
Does anyone have any experience of this? If we don't use these people and anyone else fixes it the warranty becomes completely invalid.

This is likely to be a surveyor who will only report to the insurance company that provided the warranty. They will not be connected with the original builder so it should be a fairly independent assessment of the cause of the problem. If you doubt the independence credentials of the surveyor, then ask the warranty provider for more details.
BTW can you think of a reason for the damp patches other than material failure or poor workmanship? Have you ruled out condensation due to poor ventilation or dirty gutters?1
