Buying freehold DIY

Currently I pay £6 pa for ground rent. The lease has 911 years left and vendor has said I can purchase the freehold including their legal fees for £600.00.
Is there noddy guide anybody can point be to do I can understand the process/steps.
A neighbour has already done this with the same vendor and did not use a solicitor and in the process registering the change with land registry.

In terms of absolute £, it's pretty pointless to buy it.
But it'll make any future sale a lot easier - as well as if you want to do things to the property that the lease restricts.
What did your neighbour say about the DIY legals...? They're pretty minimal.1 -
They said the (vendor) solicitor sent them the documents to sign and now in the process dealing with the land registry, not seen any paperwork but said it was a simple process and straightforward.0

Surely the place to ask is.....your neighbour!?But basicallyAP1TR1ID1But that assumes you skip the contract stage ie you just hand over the £600 and he hands over the signed TR1 for you to register.

I seem to remember the people we purchased the house did not inform them they had taken an internal wall down and was charged £100-200 for retrospective consent.AdrianC said:But it'll make any future sale a lot easier - as well as if you want to do things to the property that the lease restricts.0 -
They said it simple and easy, they was asking me about the the land registry as I work for the council and pointed them to the above link.
