Is boiler too high pressure ?

The OH topped up the boiler this morning to 2.0 when cold
Is this too high for a Worcester Greenstar 28i ?
The filling loop is permanantly connected so how do I release pressure (iif necessary) ?

It's not 'too' high for any boiler, but it is higher than it usually needs to be.
My preferred approach is to have it pretty much as low as still works... Why? Because it's less stress on all the components, and in most cases simply doesn't have to be any higher. Having said that, I usually settle for around 1 bar as that is comfortably in the 'I'm working fine' territory for most boilers, whilst still be quite low.
Any issues with having it at 2 bar instead? On a good well set up system, no. However, it could mean that seals around radiator valve spindles and pipework joints will leak very slightly if they are a bit worn when they wouldn't have done so at a lower pressure. Another issue is that 2 bar is a lot closer to the max 3 bar system pressure (before the safety valve opens...) than is 1 bar. If your system isn't 'perfect', it could increase in pressure from the 2 bar cold setting to a 'hot' pressure approaching the 3 bar limit, which is not ideal.
As Ganga says, simply bleed a rad until the pressure is down to 1 bar or just above, and tell your OH to go for a long walk.0 -
Ideally it should be set to 1 bar, as with a lot of combi boilers, in particular Worcester Bosch, the pressures can rise a bit when the CH is on. Setting it a 2 bar will increase the risk of the pressure going into the red and blowing the PRV. And as mentioned it also puts undue pressure on your CH pipework and radiator connections.50Twuncle said:The OH topped up the boiler this morning to 2.0 when coldIs this too high for a Worcester Greenstar 28i ?The filling loop is permanantly connected so how do I release pressure (iif necessary) ?3
