Update my Amazon prime now I’m a Student

I have had a Amazon Prime account for many years. I pay a monthly subscription, I have just become a student so believe I can now get my subscription at a much better rate however I can’t work out how to do this without opening a new account? I’ve emailed Amazon for advise but had no response. Is there a way to do this at all please?

Join Prime Student

Students currently enrolled in a college or university who have a valid .ac.uk email address can join Prime Student through the website.

Note: If you're an existing Amazon Family member and switch to Prime Student, your current Prime membership ends and you'll be refunded for the unused portion of this membership. You're no longer eligible for Amazon Family benefits, such as 20% off nappies ordered through Subscribe & Save.

To join Prime Student:

1. Go to Prime Student sign-up.
2. Complete and submit the sign-up form.
3. Select the verification link in the email that we send to confirm your email address and complete the sign-up process.

Note:

• If your .ac.uk email address isn't listed on your Amazon.co.uk account, that's OK. The only email we'll send to your .ac.uk email address is the verification email. If you don't have an academic institution email address, we may need to verify your student status as part of the sign-up process. If this is the case, you'll be redirected during the sign-up process.
• If you don't receive the verification email, go to Verify your email and follow the steps to resend the confirmation email. To prevent our email from going to your spam or junk folder, add amazon-student-uk@amazon.co.uk to your contacts or safe list.
• Current Amazon Prime members who sign-up for Prime Student receive a refund for the remaining months of their current Amazon Prime membership. You'll no longer have access to certain Amazon Prime benefits, such as Kindle owners' lending library, unless you enrol in a Prime Student membership for just £39 per year or £3.99 per month (50% off the regular price of Amazon Prime).
