Expired CCJ BW Legal Back Again

Options
Hi,
I've searched online but simply cannot find an answer. A CCJ has recently dropped off my file, I had been paying £10 a month for a debt over £1000. I cancelled the DD when it dropped off thinking that was that. Now I've recently been contacted by BW Legal again saying I still owe approximately £400 and that my payment plan has failed so I need to set it up again.

Can they do this? I assumed the debt was gone after the 6 years fully paid or not.

Any advice on what to say is greatly appreciated or is it easier to just pay the remainder off? My credit is just getting right on track and I feel sick having to go through this again after so long...

Thanks

Marc

The CCJ never becomes statute barred.  And whether a debt appears on your file or not has nothing to do with its enforceability.

Better get those payments reinstated as soon as you can.

Unfortunately you assumed wrongly, however by canceling your DD, you have brought another senario into play.
As the CCJ is now over 6 years old, further enforcement action cannot be taken unless BW obtain permission from the court to do so, something they may or may not be willing to do.
Right now its cheaper for them to send you letters, but be warned, if you don`t resolve this, you do risk a bailiff knocking on your door, or an attachment to your earnings at work, your credit file cannot be affected any further, but they can still cause you a great deal of hassle if you dont cooperate.

Well when you put it like that...

Obviously I assumed as the CCJ was a 6 year payment arrangement and it dropping off my file I thought it was the end of it, hence why I'm here asking for advice and how it works.

So £10 per month for 6 years is £720.
You thought they just gave discounts?
