I can't remember the exact question, but in her journal it says
"In the 12 months before your job ended
    • You had no gaps in employment.
    • You didn't live with a partner.
    • You were earning less than £542 a month."

    To add to previous post.
Looking at her contract, she was earning £6.20 an hour and working £20 a week up until April this year (£540 a month), From April this went up to £580 a month

Edit to add: she was 21 in April
2nd Edit: Also her hours were reduced to 16 a week from April, but was then let go at end of May

I can only assume that the Case Manager (or whoever it was at the DWP who sent the query) has used an out of date figure in error. That said, when did the job end?

    End of May this year
She only started the claim this month though.

It’s probably all irrelevant anyway - she is unlikely to be affected by the benefit cap anyway.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

If an exemption to the benefit cap is appropriate (assuming a benefit cap would apply) it applies for 9 months from when the job ends and not from when UC is claimed.

Thanks both, the cap is irrelevant though, she will be luck to get £300 a month by the look of it :-(

It will be her age and not her savings that is the issue. Savings of £7K does not make that much difference.
    • Single claimant aged under 25: £342.72 per month

    • Single claimant aged 25 or over: £409.89 per month

    • When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
