Help pls’ laptop power connection loose.

Options
It’s an ACER ASPIRE V3-571 - few years old.
struggling to charge it now, think it’s the internal “female” connection that is the problem rather than cable, as have tried other cables.
is this something I can fix ?  I’m assuming it’s soldered...
alternatively, is it possible to buy a cradle to charge the battery externally ? If so I could then buy a spare battery and sack off the power cable.   Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

You need to be quite dexterous with a soldering iron....if you can get at the connector -don't know that particular laptop but there will be a video of how to get to the innards online if you search. Maybe the part is available or it just needs resoldering?

Often the problem can be the contacts opening out a bit as they loose some of their spring. You might be able to push something small down the side of the contact to close it up again a bit of it is a female contact and big enough.....

There are no stupid questions.  If you don't know you don't know, and if you did you wouldn't be here ;)

The laptop will need to come apart to replace the connector.  Some laptops only need the bottom to come off to get to what you want.  Others require being taken to pieces to get to the bit in question.  Google your full model number (see bottom of laptop) and you can probably find a video on how it comes apart.

I've done these before , it's simple if you have a set of small jewellers type screwdrivers, they are small crosshead screws .

Many cables disconnect by lifting up a small cover on it that clamps it down in place .

Take plenty of time , have a small pot or bowl for screws

  • I had the same problem with my HP laptop, easy and cheap fix, they generally just plug in to the motherboard.

Hi all ,sorry for delayed update ..
I didnt feel confident taking my laptop to bits, and didnt want to pay someone else to do it , so i purchased an External Laptop Battery Charger, similar to the one below ( i cant find the link to actual one i bought )
Working very well so far, have 2 batteries and just keeping them charged up and swapping over as needed.
