Energy company takeovers

Only if the incoming supplier allows it. In effect, they've bought your contract, and the same terms apply.
In practice, they may let you leave. BG, for example, are not locking in their ex-RHE customers, although they are honouring the existing rates. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'm guessing that you probably can if they change your T&C's to your detriment or crank up your prices, otherwise probably not.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1

Hello richardw,
If you migrate over to EON before your current deal expires an exit fee may apply as per your original terms and conditions.
Thanks

I am the official company representative of nPower. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. That’s not quite correct and not in accordance with the details on your website. Any chance of a reply from someone who knows the detail?nPower said:Hello richardw,

SteveThat's obviously nonsense because the OP has no choice in being migrated over to EON from nPower, it's a direct result of the takeover of nPower by EON.Presumably the nPower rep meant to say 'If you migrate away from EON...'.1 -
@nPower Think you read the room wrong here - pretty sure he's looking to switch away from EON/Npower. Not switch earlier to EON1

The OP is moving from npower to E.ON Next and wants to know if they can switch to another supplier without exit fees. It's likely someone from E.ON Next would have to confirm this but I don't think they have a rep on here. I would have thought it would be included in any correspondence the op has regarding the transition.1

What they meant to say is.If you are still with npower and the move to eon next has not started then OP can move and and exit fees will not be taken. However once the move has started you cannot move (as you are in a move already!) and once supplied by eon next any exit fees you agreed to originally will be back in place.Emails with all this info was sent to cutomers ages ago explaining this. I know this as I am one and am now with eon next (busy time at the moment, terms have not changed so was in no rush to move. will look in dec when my deal is up!).1

It appears not all of npower customers have been sent e mails.Carrot007 said:... Emails with all this info was sent to cutomers ages ago explaining this. Did they have your correct email? Are you on a online only tarrif or signed up to paperless billing? Probably sent a letter if not, but who knows! If you have not recieved anything then I would assume you are still with npower and could probably move without penatlty, but ringing them to confirm and getting a letter/email would be advised.richardw said:
