My wife and I go to our local bingo club and because of the pandemic they now accept credit and debit cards for buying bingo books.
If I use my credit card to buy the books will this be treated as a cash transaction or as a normal credit card transaction?

It depends how the lender classes the transaction

Check the t&c’s for your card but most CC companies treat gambling transactions as they would do a cash advance.

As well as gambling is now banned on credit cards.
Which tends to make me think it might be classed as not being gambling.
Is it one of the larger chains?

It depends how the retailer has their machines set up. Ask.

It would be better to find out rather than think it might not be classed as a gambling, as just thinking it doesn’t make it so.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

If it was classed as gambling, then the transaction would be declined. As in breech of credit card T/C

I went to the bingo for the first time in years because my wife wanted to go but she had hurt her foot and couldn't drive and there is not much point in me taking her there then going home then going back for her 2 and a half hours later and paid for my books with my credit card.
I won't be going back though until this farce is over.
You can sit there and play bingo but you can't buy a bloody drink or even a packet of crisps.
    Pathetic.
    And I didn't even win

I know the club I go to (one of the big chains) only allow debit card payments. I went to a different club to my usual and went to pay with my Metro Bank MasterCard Debit- it was handed back to me and I was told ‘we don’t take credit  cards’ - it has DEBIT on the front in big letters!
