MacBook - slow uploading media

Hi,
My work colleague has a MacBook and had asked me for help with a recent issue. She has upgraded to the Catalina OS but since doing so when she browses her machine to upload photos or videos to Facebook/eBay etc she says it takes ages to load the thumbnails from her media photo in order to select them.
Is this a glitch in the OS or is there anything I could do to help? I’m a windows user and hence me asking for help on here.

So she is uploading pics/ Are the pics large as in thousands of pixels? Uploading is often slow at peak times.0

Thanks and I don’t think so she only had an iPhone for taking pics/videos.0
