Awful weather - typical Brits talk

What a lovely sittooterie, taff. I would love one of them in the garden.
twopenny, that buddleia is amazing - I thought it was wisteria. Did you walk through the rickety steps?? It looks like it leads to a secret garden.
Nothing much doing here. I was getting attacked by the dreaded midges when I was hanging my washing out first thing. It's supposed to be dry with sunny spells today, but tbh it's a bit grey and felt like it might rain when I was outside.'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Before I go...
Good morning all, today my name must be Dante for this is my Peak <giggle>

That'll do.I had a hen who could count her own eggs - she was a mathemachicken.9 -
A dull and rather cool start here, but we are promised better things later with intermittent sun and a high of 19c. That will do nicely.Good to hear you are on the mend pp, but don't be too quick to blame your soup.So long as the P that B don't start using these scandals as a reason to chlorinate food like they do in the US.I'm sure this better weather will help most of us with aches and pains, if not the tummy upsets. I find the longer days allow more resting time, so it's possible to be outside at 21.00 and actually enjoying a spot of weeding. One plant I'm not eliminating, but certainly cutting down on, is Valerian officinalis. It would take over the streamside if I let it. Here in the border it will be enjoyed for a few more weeks, and then, out it will come!EDIT: Love your baskets and the deep bed, Bluey!8

Bluey I love that bed!And your baskets, that's worked well.Friend didn't want to go back and find out about the ducklings. She thought the worst but I say they bounce and float and would be fine. It was just one that had wandered off that started all the trouble and it was fine. Found the pond all on it's own and mum not far away.Humans interfering. Mother duck would have gathered this one eventually if left alone and she probably did. That's a nice Valarian Dusty. Mine is the original wild one and an uninspirational plant but it came and stayed. The rickety steps Poppy, just lead to a mud path around the high level garden for access and then leads into the woods. We were too footsore to explore by that time. It's dark grey and cold Northerly wind here today around 14c so it's spring cleaning for me though there are some cuttings need potting which I still haven't done. The 'bug' that got me seems to be easing but the congestion is still hanging around to pop up and annoy when you least expect it.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Breezy but sort of warm, sun is trying and on a promise for laterThe hanging baskets turned out very well YBE, and soon to be dripping with sweet tomatoesThat bit looks good, is that the wineberry I can see bottom right?Your daises are ahead of mine
, I've only just got the buds on mine, no idea why, last year they were great.
I heard Junaury as well, yesterday somewhere, maybe radio 4?Summer Solstice, just time to get queueing on the A303 for Stonehengegoldfinches said:I'm very excited to have read about toms with dark foliage as I have three currently doing quite well on my plot. I'm not sure of their name but think they are Black Moon which I got from T & M but will check the next time I go up. I can't find any good photos of them on my phone either so I'll snap one then too.Dusty, envy the Valerian, another one that fails at Farway towersHowever, the elusive aquilegia survivors are well under way now. I'll just have to trot out the quality not quantity bit.I've seen a buddleia like that 2P, there was one hanging over a car park fence.By the time I was ready to tidy it up and remove some shoots, it had gone, chopped down by the legitimate owner I guessToday it's my common geranium,[cranesbill] from seed, nice & featheryEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
Haha, love the shopping baskets, YBE
the flower bed is interesting - it doesn't look like your garden though??
Dusty, the soup is the only thing DH wouldn't didn't eat, so that's why I thought it could be that. I do vaguely remember thinking 'that'll do' when I was heating it up and maybe it needed a few minutes more. We do occasionally buy chicken from Lidl, so that's not goodand chlorinated chicken... no thank you... I hope that never happens.
Beautiful Valerian pic, I thought it must have been a wildflower with it being next to the stream, but with Farway saying he has tried it at Farway Towers, can it be a garden plant too??
Cute duckling, twopenny. Hopefully the others were reunited with the mother, I'm sure they would have been. We had ducklings that had fallen down a drain and mother duck (with a sensible one that hadn't fallen in) was quacking away until a neighbour and I realised there was a problem. The neighbour managed to open the drain and rescue three fluffy ducklings and they all wandered off with their relieved mother
That's a lovely pic of the geranium, Farway. I'm impressed that you grew that from seed. I think once I get this garden under control (ha, heaven knows when that will be!!) I'll try growing flowers from seed, not just vegetables. I've also still got my eye on a Sambucus Nigra(??) from years ago that I spotted in a car park - I really want to try and get a couple of bits to fall into my pocket...
My exciting news is that I have flower buds on one of my tattiesit's the Kerr's Pink and I think that one can be harvested (if there's anything in there) in late August/September. I still feel a bit like 'I'll believe it when I see it' about any of the tatties, but it'll be nice if I get something/anything

Today was nice enough to
sit out with a book, and enjoy the bees.
Dsis planted the baby too .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -
Sun did appear, so got off my erse and sorted out the wall baskets.Decided to utilise the weedy ones festering away on the wall at the end of the garden. I used to grow hanging toms in them, but my back, wobbles & general decrepitude made lugging water down there not worthwhile. All done now, plus a large pot I found under some ferns. I now have four different fuchsias in addition to the four already there, eight in total & all different. In my mind, I see a wall of fuchsias.Reality my differ. The broad beans I planted out are starting to return to upright, I'll get a photo soon.Wort, bee watching & book in sun is good gardening, make sure the blighters don't slacken off.-taff said:Farway, I'm happy your fuchsias are growing. Mine in the pot are fine, the ones in the bed have gone to the fjord after being repeatedly sat on by the cats. I find black toms tatse better, some of them are hit and miss taste wise, I thought I'd found a fab normal cherry one this week but unfortunately OH ate the two I was saving for seed. They were lovely too, really sharp and sweet, the skin was quite thick too which made the pop even better when you bit on them. We've got two episodes left of Fallout. I'm a fan of Walton Goggins, he was fab in Justified and Predators. I liked your bees knees too, are we moving onto other bosy parts? What were Mr & Mrs Goggins thinking, naming a baby Walton? Possibly took a tip from Mr & Mrs Head's son Richard.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

Aye baskets and bed were good eh! I’ll never top that, it’s downhill from here
The bed is over the fence from the Oracle. I sent himself over to paint her fence and titivate the place cos she was going to Lourdes and suddenly needed it done before she left  I’ve had that pic waiting while my tomatoes got a bit of something about them… I’m not sure the Hanging Baskets of Barbylon will perform as desired though, me toms have come over all Lance Corporal and aren’t making any slouchy looking moves. Yet.Good news that your lurgy is retreating 2p, hopefully it stays away once you fully evict it 🤞🏻 Good news about the ducklings too 😃The berry patch Farway. There are two rasps there and the wineberry from last year and only the middle one has it’s label and it’s the autumn rasp. Naturally. If the lemon balm keeps going like it is there’ll be no sun at all getting to themAnd I know they’re only common but I love those big daisy wosnames
Mind, her over the fence has a huge crowd of them, and stunning roses, and she does nothing at all in that garden. *sigh*
Ooh I like your flowers Dusty, a nice colour combo thereAnd the P that B best not start messing with our chicken. The yanquis can do as they please with their meat, and I’ve just deleted the rest of this sentence :n:no_mouth: Ahem.
Glad you’re feeling better pp. Doesn’t seem that long ago you planted those tatties and look at them now! I’m available for tasting sessions. Have butter, will travel.Pretty flowers wort are they the ones you just got? Least the bees are happy with it eh 😃 Always makes me smile to see a Bee BumA book in the sunshine is a joy. You healing nicely?
