Another vote for figging
Farway, that was the same with my back, a sudden aarrgghh moment. It's been okay (fingers crossed) for the last few days, just the odd little twinge. I've still been putting the ibuprofen gel on every morning, just in case, although I'll stop that at the weekend.
I couldn't get warm last nightwe were sat in a cold pub for two and a half hours, so that probably didn't help. I ended up getting out of bed at 1.30am to find some fluffy socks and had a look outside - it was a clear night and wow the stars were amazing
I'm glad I got up.
Dry and sunny again today, contrary to the BBC's forecast... We were supposed to be visiting an island that I've never been to before on Sunday, but Storm Kathleen has scuppered that...'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
You can definitely have 'figging.' I've just read in the MSM that Lewis Hamilton is F1's 'winningest' driver. Clearly, it's open Season on English. The only interesting thing I've seen today (so far) is a Skylark. They used to be pretty common when I was a lad, but with changes in farming practices, sighting one here, away from the moors, is noteworthy. And on the subject of the Mail, our Copy of 'The Garden' hasn't arrived, though my SiL's came last week.
I suppose it may have gone to the person down in the 'complex' who had my DD's Amazon parcel for a week, until told we'd queried non-arrival and now had a photo of it on his doorstep. Hmmm...
Perhaps the Salvation Army would also like to know their 'Easter Appeal' letter has just got here too.
How can you afford to sit in a pub for 2.5 hours, poppy?Mind you, as a teenager, I could make a cup of coffee last all evening in the caff!

My postie arrived, with my seeds, bills and an old codger meals brochure. Have I got some of your mail in error Dusty?I used to hear skylarks in the fields, remember it well, blue skies and them way up shouting their beaks off in the 70s, now it's a housing estate, quite a nice one though.pink_poppy said:Another vote for figging

Lucky you found the water pipe Dusty, I'd probably have sliced through it by now.Rain still off & on and back still twinging at the wrong times, apart from that all's wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Haha, you two are so funny - you're like a double act
I was nursing a sparkling water (at £2.60 I was too tight to buy another one) as the designated driver, while the others in the group were getting merry on beer. We won the quiz so it was worth sitting there freezing.
I don't think I've ever seen or heard a Skylark. I did spot a bird of prey as we were out this afternoon perched in a tree - it was possibly a buzzard but we were past too quickly for me to ID.
I had a lovely wander around a garden centre this afternoon - so much choice. I saw a blue delphinium called Blue Bird and that reminded me of YBE's delft. Loads of trees - I could have spent a fortune. They had column apple trees - I think the variety was Discovery. All very, very expensive. If only I was rich...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
I was looking at morrisons fruit trees and some were column type. I think more from misfortune than design but worth a look this year Poppy. Around£15.
The back (add your problem here) thing is always disappointing because you can't plan for it. I've been dancing today and my unsuportive hip/back disappeared.
Haven't heard more than one skylark this year. Too wet to be up on the moor.
Not seen a clear night sky either. Never thought I'd be wishing for that.
Did get brightness today. In between the rain. Flat grey tonight so more rain due. Happily no wind
My none of my fruit trees are blooming. Just not enough light or warmth I guess.
Emptying the water out of the seed trays.
Perhaps I should have grown water cress!
Went to the Greencombe talk last night. Very good.
There was some technical stuff and interesting bits on ferns and such. I remember thinking aw Farway would like that or must tell Dusty but can't remember now.
Dare say I'll remember and ask when I visit....I'll start a tread on it in case people are interested.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

That was good finding your water pipe Dusty, are you gonna plant the chives along the length of it so you know where it is? ChainSaw Man get finished yesterday did he? I bet he'd not relish going up there today with this wind
"Winningest" is an abomination, that sort nonsense makes my teeth itch. Mind it could have followed the recent trend (now hopefully dying) of putting -ful at the end of words... Healthful, prideful *shudder* For someone who doesn't stick too closely to the rules of the English language, I get surprisingly tetchy when others don't either ha haa!
So small is beautiful when it comes to back gardens is it? I'll try and remember that when I'm cursing all the weeds that are rampaging across my open soil cos all the things I've planted aren't big enough to drown them out yet. Slugs are doing their very best to keep everything small too. Grrr.
Did you buy the delphinium pp? I couldn't have resisted it with that name
I'd be interested in that thread 2p, you swines have got me right into this gardening malarkey
Warm out there (11') and warming up all afternoon to 16', possibly. Bladdy windy with it though, it's whistling down my chimney. And His Holeyness still has a full compliment of toes, and the baldy one hasn't gotten any worse. He gobbled his breakfast down and he's walking fine. So he's on his own today while I take mum and dad flowers. I don't know what he does all day, but I suspect he goes house to house being fed and cuddled. The wee girl at the end loves him (she has a cat) but I think he's only tolerating her 'til Lovely Neighbour gets backI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -

I don't worry too much about language - all things change and if it wasn't for people making up words then I wouldn't have half as much pleasure over the years listening to Shakespeare in the park...
I think it's going to be reasonably warm here this morning, forecast is rain from about 6pm - hoping it stays dry tomorrow as there's a carboot that I want to get to. Hoping that someone will be selling tomatoes etc given mine don't seem to have sprouted still.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5 -
Well how about that? Thanks Arb, every day really is a school day
I thought they were made up yank nonsense cos I've only ever heard them say healthful or prideful. I wonder why they fell out of use and then came back... interesting.

I reckon it's like clothes - things fall in and out of fashion. That's the excuse I use for keeping all my old stuff in the wardrobe anywayI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5

Flavourful - ::shudder:: which I thought was brought about by the annoying ginger woman as my father used to call her, The Pioneer Woman but turns out to have been introduced by the Daily Express in 1927...and I only know that now thanks to you Arb...I still blame her for bringing it back, it sounds nail screeching down a blackboard to me.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5
