Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I know what you mean about 2 lines of a song wort. My brain's been playing "blackbird, blackbird, singing the blues all day" round and round and round since I found that link the other day. A bit more of it would have been nice but that's outside my control it seems *sigh* Stoopid brain.
I don't know what you're like for pennies pp, but as someone who spent many hours a day in fields in all weathers I'd say absolutely spend proper money on good wellies, the difference is amazing. Hunters are for the brand snobs that don't wear them all day. I've had Le Chameau's - worth the money, and I've currently got Mucks - also worth the money. The only reason I didn't get another pair of Le C's was they got fashionable in the 10 years it took me to wear mine out and the price went silly. Mucks might have gone the same way actually. Anything neoprene will prob be the same sort of gig
ETA Mountain Warehouse have got a sale on - https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/footwear/wellies-wellingtons/womens/I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Ha! So I'm a snob!
.
I used to get hunters at discount from a farming shop back in the day. Loved them for walking the dogs after work and could drive in them. But there were no choices then.
Now I have some in case of snow as they have a good grip.
We don't have shops with choices as there seems to be now. It's them or plastic ones.
Oh and mine are navy blue.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

You 'might' get better value buying wellies from a farmers' outlet, like MVF, or similar. Also, if you're not going to hammer them, I can recommend Bekina Steplites, for being light and comfy.*Late up.
My cat, Wiggy (not real name) was pummelling me too, because I fell asleep on the sofa, and it had gone past hen time....
Cool out there, but much brighter than forecast, and an eerie mist was hanging in the valley. Of course, I'd no camera with me, so you will have to make do with pictures of hellebores shot yesterday. Here's one to kick off with:
*You may find them cheaper than at MVF, but don't forget the best fit will be by trying them on and there's postage on internet stuff."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6 -
Sorry 2p!
I knew as soon as I said that that someone would have Hunters  Mine only lasted 2 weeks ‘til the soles cracked so I took em back. Navy blue sounds good though, mine are the queerest shade of purple cos that’s what was reduced
If they’re only for gardening pp, what about those half-wellies they sell now..?
Pretty hellebore Dusty, very cheeringI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
I think they might be like Dr Martins - where they used to be working boots but now fashion, so some products are outsourced to mass production.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5

Sunny day already & it's supposed to stay like this, hooray.YoungBlueEyes said:Also - who was looking for forsythia? They’ve got some in tescos. That was me Blue, no Tesco near me though, except a convenience one which I refuse to use because they took over my pub and evicted the landlady out the week before Christmas. At least it seems Bruce Forsythia is around now. Sniggered at Bruce PP, and I expect I'll use it all the time now, which could eventually cause eye rolls.I have a blackbird, spotted yesterday, digging in my newly cleared pots at the front. He was having a right go in there, and hopefully finding vine weevils by the beak full.Lovely hellebore pic Dusty, I think there's one on the volunteer patch but may have been trampled during fenceageddon. I'll have a look next time I'm up there.ArbitraryRandom said:I think they might be like Dr Martins - where they used to be working boots but now fashion, so some products are outsourced to mass production.twopenny said:Nothing exciting to report here. Perhaps the day will throw something up - like a bit of sun or the seeds I want. Hanging on for the 89p ones. All other stuff in and the thing they hang on. Just no seeds.
, just need Spring to arrive & I'm all set
I need locking away, also in my electronic mail was an offer from T & M, ten quid off if spending over twenty, and the Purple Haze apple tree I was coveting was £24.99 reduced from £44.99.
Although the £44 price seems OTT to me, the now £14.99 sold it to me. Now ordered dammit.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
Oh good grief, you couldn't possibly resist a price like that Farway
Bluey a) purple hunters are so not the thing. Definitely shows you up if you wear them
They did go through a bad patch, fortunately I had a friend who was doing a swap if they went south too soon for a new pair. The bad ones were sent back for research. So they knew something was up. I was chuffed and to date they are still durable. Just cheaper now than the new kids on the block.
Still wet here so no temptation to mow.
And the sun did come out! Got some lovely photos.
And collected some seaweed to press for a picture if they retain their colours. (Does that count as gardening?)I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Your Purple Haze just shows - good things come to he who waits Farway
Is that for your garden or the volunteer patch?
Gawd that made me laugh 2pBeing trendy was never my strong suit, but I'll deffo feel dé classé next time I wear them now ha haa!
Is your seaweed an edible sort? I'd be drying some and turning it into dulce yummy yum yumWere there any octopusses nearby when you gathered it? If so it surely counts as gardening, according to the Beatles 🎼

.....collected some seaweed to press for a picture if they retain their colours. (Does that count as gardening?)Well, seaweeds are algae, and algae are part of lichens, so I think they qualify. Lichens definitely count, because there's a new Lichen Trail at Rosemoor. You may read about it on pages 10-11 in February's Garden Magazine (LGBTQ+ edition!) or you can download a copy here:
Apparently, there are 1800 species of lichen, nearly all of them with totally unpronounceable names. My gardening today is still hedge renovation. Maybe 2 weeks worth left, allowing for bad weather and doing nicer things occasionally. It's still sunny and calm here despite earlier predictions from the Met Office, whose website is down. Does this mean Putin's reached Exeter, or are they just changing their predictions??

Which size rootstock did you go for (I think I remember you saying you were getting a patio cherry before xmas)?I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4
