So, 3rd time lucky?
I'll make sure I get a pic of the seed next time I just plant something I've found. Seeds are identifiable but leaves can be a bit all over the place so it's more fun! Might have to repot it soon cos it's getting tall and wobbly...
Stewed spiced apples on porridge sounds yummyI'm not a morning eater but that does sound good.
Another fine autumnal morning here, warmer than recently though. It was almost a photo-worthy sunset last night but I think I missed the best of it cos it was so earlyAt the risk of sounding like an auld s0d, aren't the days getting shorter quickly? There's a wee bit of darkness left when I get up now, and the nights really are drawing in. The winter constellations will soon be upon us
I'm kind of hoping this means we'll have a warm September.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4 -
Blimey, is it Bank Holiday already? Likewise, YBE, I suddenly realised the mornings are darker, but today is supposed to be a scorcher, well it's sunny at leasttwopenny said:Looks like the runner beans have had their day so I'll let the last ones go to seed.See Farway's got another front page
I think I have one more meal from the runners, but the flat yellow French type are now doing as intended and going to seed for next yearHad to check the front page, that bee's bum will be famous
Now I have to get a photo of my pears for comparison with Dusty's, his win BTW, if only because his are edible and mine just are big, hard & red. Oooer missusSorted out the apples, but no time to do much except look at them, This unknown type is lovely with tasty cheese, sweet & juicy, ideal Ploughman's lunch style appleI need to water again, it's all drying out and pots are wilting at the front, a job for this afternoon

Sounds about right 2p, you’ve been waiting how long for your jobs to be done and I’ll bet you’re all finished by the end of the month ha haa!Woohoo for making the front page Farway, well deserved
Apples and pears talk is making me look at my trees wistfully… My apple tree is holding up that funny purple thingy, and a low branch on my pear is holding up a something that looks almost nettle-y but it has lovely wee white flowers. So at least they’re useful if not productive
Thick high white cloud here that the sun occasionally pops through, gentle breeze and about 19’ so it’s perfect weather for me. I wasn’t built for a while lot of heat so this does me rightly. I nipped to Morrisons because fomo and they’ve some offers on their plants. So I’ve come back with - (from the Cottage Garden Perennial range) a campanula ‘garganica major’ and a delphinium ‘magic fountain sky blue white bee’ 2 for £3. A clematis ‘Madame Julia Correvon’ and an Escallonia ‘Donard Seedling’ £2.29 each, for the height they’ll be.And while I was weeding and sorting the ground out for them I found another ….pip. Not the same as the other one but bladdy close. So think a bit greyer and no clam shell rim. Penny for scale. It’s the same size though.
I’ve potted it so we’ll seeI oppose genocide. I support freedom of speech. I support freedom of assembly.3 -
Any chance there's dogwood in your vicinity? (image of 'common dogwood' seeds from t'interwebs)
Not a perfect match, but could be something in that ballpark?

I don't know Dogwood.
I was wondering one of the flowering cherries. Birds drop them all over the place.
I gave in to two new solar faries which have been missing from the shop this year.
My others have died. I must find a way of using them somewhere.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

The one I planted yesterday is poss a cherry I think. The other mystery did look more like your pic Arb. The one out on it's own on the lower right hand side is very nearly it, if it was more grey. I don't know if there's dogwood round here though, there's plenty of trees so there might be. I've just DuckDuck'd dogwood tree images and I think it may be. I'll ask the Oracle - I must be due an inspection a coffee and a catchup. I've sprayed the weeds at the front but I'm not sure they're dying fast enough for her.
Bit of fine misty rain here this morning, the sobers and Ventusky reckon a shower of proper rain about 8 o'clock. I bet it will too cos I got the jalopy washed yesterday when I was outBladdy warm and heavy though, it was 20' last night and not a breath. Autumn tomorrow though, they all say. Colder and windy across the board. Which it absolutely will be cos I just bought a portable bbq and bag of tools in the aldi sale!

, so I thought I'd grab a bit of it by the coast. Didn't walk more than a few miles and couldn't get lost, but we stayed clear of those crowds in the distance.
We found lots of blackberries on low, wind blasted bushes along much of the coast path. They were small and didn't look appetising, but the ripe ones tasted very sweet.Did the shopping and took a long detour home to buy 2 dozen eggs from a farm we trust. Our hens aren't keeping up now; it's feather change time.
By then, the light was fading and it looked as if the cloud we have this morning was already moving in..... (Photo missing in the ether

Another vote for cherry pipIt's supposed to rain or thunder here, waited until I'd watered of course before making its mind upGlad you made it home safely Dusty and were not lost, blackberries do come in all sizes & sweetness don't they? And one is no indication of the other. What I find odd is my Thornfree has two types on it, despite only one root and the same stem. One type is huge & lush looking, the other is more small tight pips & brambly looking. Both taste much the same, sharp, borderline insipidGood trip to Morries YBE, I like their plants but as mentioned previously the offerings are not as good as they once wereIf the rain makes its mind up, either do it properly or go away I'll try & get out into the garden, a few stragglers of ripe toms I missed the other day, they'll do for seeds if not eatingI noticed the cabbage white caterpillars glory days are over and are now trying to hide way & turn into chrysalis, the sacrificial nasturtiums are completely leafless now, just bare chomped stalks remain. If Indian Summer, they may regrow until frostEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5
